Pink Phalaenopsis gathered into a round pot.
Phalaenopsis is the usual Korean gift for an opening or a new post. Several spikes come up side by side here, so the flowers layer themselves towards the top. The pot is white ceramic with vertical fluting, and a saucer comes with it.
The flowers last a month or two, often longer.
Water about every ten to fourteen days, once the surface of the compost has gone quite dry, at the roots rather than the flowers — water on the petals leaves brown marks. Keep the room above 15°C in winter, and clear of a draughty window.

Looking after it
- Light Bright indoors, out of direct sun.
- Water When the moss or bark is dry through, water thoroughly and let it drain.
- Air Somewhere the air moves. Roots suffer in a closed corner.
- Temperature Happiest between 18 and 25°C. Keep it above 10°C in winter.
- After flowering Cut the spent spike away and keep the plant for its leaves.
