The larger size of the condolence basket placed beside the portrait of the deceased or on the altar. White chrysanthemum is ringed around with a yellow lily at the centre, and dark green foliage radiates broadly behind. It has no standing legs, so it needs no floor space of its own — it sits on the floor or on the altar as it is. The condolence phrase and the sender’s organisation and name are lettered on the white ribbon.

How a Korean funeral wreath works

A standing wreath is the customary way to express condolences at a Korean funeral. It is delivered to the funeral hall and stood in or beside the mourning room, with two ribbons: one carrying the condolence phrase and one carrying your name.

Korean funerals usually run for three days and the mourning room is open around the clock, so same-day delivery matters. Please give the room number — funeral halls hold several rooms at once and the name alone is not enough to find the family.
