Broad fan-like leaves, each one large, rising on long stalks.
Yeoincho is the Korean name. Straight leaf stalks come up from the base and spread in every direction, each carrying a single wide leaf of deep green. It suits a lobby or a shop floor where the ceiling is high.
As it grows the leaves split along their length; nothing is wrong when they do. It likes a bright position. Water generously once the top of the compost has dried out well, and wipe the broad leaves with a damp cloth from time to time, as dust settles on them and the gloss returns with a wipe. Planted in a white cylinder pot with horizontal ribs.
Foliage of this height is a common opening present in Korea, left standing in the shop or office it was sent to for years. The flower meaning is mystery and everlasting good fortune.

Looking after it
- Light Bright indoors, out of direct sun. Scorched leaves do not grow back.
- Water When the top of the soil is dry, water until it runs out of the bottom. Little and often does more harm than good.
- Air Somewhere the air moves. Roots suffer in a closed corner.
- Winter Keep it above 10°C and out of the path of a heater.
- Leaves Wipe the dust off now and then. Clean leaves breathe.

A plant or a wreath for an opening?
A wreath stands outside on the day and announces the opening to everyone passing. A plant stays in the shop afterwards. Many people send a wreath for the day and a plant for the years after.
What size should I choose?
Decide where it will stand first. We have floor plants for a corner and smaller pots for a counter. Tell us the spot and we will suggest the size.
Will I know it arrived?
We send you a photograph once it is in place. Ask when you order if you want the room in the shot.
Can I change or cancel the order?
Until we start making it up, yes — message us on the live chat with your order number and we will change or cancel it and refund you in full. Once the florist has started, we can no longer change it.
Bird of Paradise — 1.7 m with the pot
Broad, large fan-shaped leaves rise in numbers. In Korea it stands for mystery and lasting good fortune. About 1.7 m including the pot, a height that suits a lobby or a shop with a high ceiling. As it grows the leaves split naturally — this is not damage. It likes a bright spot; water generously once the surface soil has dried well. The leaves are broad and collect dust, so wiping them with a damp cloth now and then brings the gloss back.
