A Bengal rubber plant, every leaf marked with a clear pattern.

Broad oval leaves with pronounced veins gather at the end of each branch, the green broken with paler markings. The grey-brown trunk is straight, with the branches opening out above it. Planted in a white cylinder pot.

It is very hardy and no trouble for a first-time grower. Keep it somewhere with air moving and water well once the top of the compost has dried. Each tree has grown as nature made it, so the curve of the branches and the set of the leaves will not match the photograph exactly.

Ribbon wording and a message card are made up along with the plant; write what you would like in the request box when you order. Pots of this kind are sent in Korea when a shop or an office opens, and they stay on that floor for years.

Looking after it

  • Light Bright indoors, out of direct sun. Scorched leaves do not grow back.
  • Water When the top of the soil is dry, water until it runs out of the bottom. Little and often does more harm than good.
  • Air Somewhere the air moves. Roots suffer in a closed corner.
  • Winter Keep it above 10°C and out of the path of a heater.
  • Leaves Wipe the dust off now and then. Clean leaves breathe.

Questions people ask

A plant or a wreath for an opening?

A wreath stands outside on the day and announces the opening to everyone passing. A plant stays in the shop afterwards. Many people send a wreath for the day and a plant for the years after.

What size should I choose?

Decide where it will stand first. We have floor plants for a corner and smaller pots for a counter. Tell us the spot and we will suggest the size.

Will I know it arrived?

We send you a photograph once it is in place. Ask when you order if you want the room in the shot.

Can I change or cancel the order?

Until we start making it up, yes — message us on the live chat with your order number and we will change or cancel it and refund you in full. Once the florist has started, we can no longer change it.

Bengal Fig — easy for a first plant

Every leaf carries a clear marbling. This one is very hardy — an easy first plant to keep. Give it a spot with air movement and water well once the soil has dried. Because the tree was grown outdoors, the curve of the branches and the arrangement of the leaves will not match the photograph exactly. If you would like a ribbon phrase or a message card, write it in the request field when you order and we will make it up with the plant.

Sending a plant to a Korean business

Potted foliage plants are the usual gift when a shop, office or clinic opens in Korea. They are placed by the entrance or the reception desk and stay there — the gift is meant to last rather than to be admired for a day.

A ribbon carrying your name and the occasion phrase is attached to the pot.

Delivered anywhere in South Korea within three hours, and we send you a photograph of the plant in place once it arrives. If the pot or plant size shown is unavailable on the day, we substitute the closest equivalent and tell you before we deliver.
