A ZZ plant of the close-set sort, with short nodes and leaves packed tight along the stems.

The coin-shaped leaves are why Koreans read it as prosperity and dreamlike love. Unlike a plain ZZ plant it does not run up tall; the leaves sit close, which makes the whole thing look tidy and solid.

Stems and roots hold water, so it copes with dry indoor air. Once a month, when the compost has dried right through, is all it needs. It is planted in a white cylindrical pot with vertical fluting and a saucer.

Plants like this are standard opening gifts in Korea, kept on a desk or counter for years afterwards.

Looking after it

Light Bright indoors, out of direct sun. Scorched leaves do not grow back.
Water When the top of the soil is dry, water until it runs out of the bottom. Little and often does more harm than good.
Air Somewhere the air moves. Roots suffer in a closed corner.
Winter Keep it above 10°C and out of the path of a heater.
Leaves Wipe the dust off now and then. Clean leaves breathe.

A plant or a wreath for an opening?

A wreath stands outside on the day and announces the opening to everyone passing. A plant stays in the shop afterwards. Many people send a wreath for the day and a plant for the years after.

What size should I choose?

Decide where it will stand first. We have floor plants for a corner and smaller pots for a counter. Tell us the spot and we will suggest the size.

Will I know it arrived?

We send you a photograph once it is in place. Ask when you order if you want the room in the shot.

Can I change or cancel the order?

Until we start making it up, yes — message us on the live chat with your order number and we will change or cancel it and refund you in full. Once the florist has started, we can no longer change it.

Jewel ZZ Plant B — about 50 cm

A ZZ plant of the kind with short internodes and leaves set closely together. In Korea it stands for prosperity and a dreamlike love. About 50 cm including the pot. It does not stretch upward the way an ordinary ZZ plant does, and the dense leaves give it a neater, firmer look. The stems and roots store water, so it copes well with a dry room — watering about once a month, when the soil has dried out completely, is enough.
